You may want to consider this for any pirates in your family:

We are here now--stay home!!! It sucks as a festival--4 tents, little to do and stuff aint that interesting for adults or kids. Massive fail. There is a Johnny Depp lookalike.

Damn! What happened to the (and we quote) "Pirate Theatre for Kids, Pirate Sea Shanteys, Piratory, Pirate reenactments, flintlock demos, Interactive Pirate Camp, Visiting Pirate Ship, Ocean Explorers, Maritime Career Opportunity, Pirates Ecocruise, Live Afro Beat Music on a theme design stage, Pirate Costume Contest, Vendors, Refreshments..."???

If the "flintlock demo" was a loud gun repeatedly going off without warning that scares small children, yeah, that was there, too. A nice touch for getting rid of the target audience because we all know kids like repetitive sudden surprises.

To be fair, there was a nice gentleman in one of the tents with two parrots that could be petted. This was the only nice thing of the event. The music was canned music unrelated to pirates. No costume contest, though one of the tents was selling costume bad pirate stuff, but also angel wings and rainbow wands.

The parent and kid exodus soon after arrival made clear that better things lie elsewhere, anywhere but there.

Well that is just sad. We were thinking about going but overslept. How can they advertise a visiting pirate ship and cruises etc and Pirate Camp and not have them? Deceptive advertising!
