Report: Brooklyn City Council Delegation Removes Menchaca from Leadership Post

It was a coup, Capital New York reports.

After growing frustrated about missed opportunities to nominate candidates to a number of city agencies, Brooklyn's City Council delegation voted to remove Carlos Menchaca (D- Red Hook, Sunset Park) from his leadership post. He was promptly replaced by Councilman Mark Treyger, CapNY says.

Was Mayor de Blasio involved?

Crain's has reported that the de Blasio administration walked away from a $115 million project to redevelop the South Brooklyn Marine Terminal in Sunset Park, "citing the local councilman's demand for more control over the site than City Hall was willing to give."
