Brooklyn's new pop-up park-- Pier 1 at Fulton Ferry Landing -- has been attracting increasing numbers of beer guzzling crowds.
Tour buses pull onto Furman Street at all hours and discharge streams of camera-toting visitors. Others come by car, looking for that place everybody's been talking about.
Besides being a tourist magnet, Pier 1 has become a minor mecca for locals who treat the park, with its little mounds of grass and views of the Waterfalls, as their newest neighborhood pub. (Notice that the shade-providing umbrellas have arrived!)
We're betting that Rice, which operates the concession stand, has hit the jackpot.

I'm a local. My wife and I were there last night enjoying some fine frosty brews outside and watching people. Not a lot of other places to drink outside in DUMBO. We liked it. We also talked about how Rice was smart to be doing this. $6 beers, $3 french fries. Not too shabby.
I wished they opened earlier. I wouldn't mind some coffee and a bun before work.
