Skip the Line at the Downtown Brooklyn Post Office

That line at the post office in Brooklyn Heights/Downtown Brooklyn is a killer. Get there any time that normal people need to be there -- before or after work, or on Saturday, and you may be in line for hours.

But what most people don't know is that about one block away, the Municipal Building at 210 Joralemon Street also houses a post office, and the line is often negligible. The only requirement is that you go through the metal detectors, like at the airport. (In addition, they can't deal with packages.)

Downtown law firms have used this trick for years.
