Here's an interesting video about Sen. John McCain's central role in the savings and loan scandal of the late '80s and early '90s.
We had heard he was a member of the "Keating Five," and we had a vague idea that Charles Keating went to jail for looting savings & loans. But this little history lesson -- the $3.4 billion hit to the taxpayers, the fraud, and the complicity of Senator McCain -- bears a chilling resemblance to the failures in our economy today.
It's easy to follow the money in this one:
Keating ---> $ ---> McCain
Another thing we didn't know: "John McCain is the only major party presidential nominee in US history to have been rebuked, censured or otherwise admonished after a Congressional ethics investigation."
