McBrooklyn wandered over to the Verizon store on Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights yesterday to check out the new Droid X.
Google's new Android 2.1 phone has a 4.3" display, 8-megapixel camera with dual LED flash, and runs on a 1GHz processor.
Even though Verizon said two days ago there would be plenty of the devices on release day, the weary-sounding staff told us that they had sold out.
"We might be getting more tomorrow, but we've been experiencing some inventory problems," one staff member told us.
According to PC World, the next shipping date is July 23. Android 2.2 will roll out sometime later this summer. It's also rumored that the Droid 2 (which will probably have a real keyboard) will be out late August.

I'm sticking with dumb phones from now on.
They're a lot cheaper, that's for sure.
