Hundreds March Over Brooklyn Bridge to Protest Arizona Immigration Law

Hundreds gathered in Downtown Brooklyn's Cadman Plaza Park and marched across the Brooklyn Bridge Thursday to protest Arizona’s controversial new immigration law, which went into effect today.

Roughly ten organizations representing churches, immigrants and youth groups headed for Foley Square, where they encountered counter-protesters.

According to AP, Arizona is preparing to ask an appeals court to lift a judge's ruling that put most of the state's immigration law on hold. Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said he was about to start a crime sweep targeting illegal immigrants.
