Thousands of Happy Campers Packed Brooklyn Bridge Park's 'Movies With a View' Last Night

Brooklyn Bridge Park's Pier 1 was packed last night for the summer's first episode of the Movies With a View series, Annie Hall. After the hellish weather of the past few days, it was a happy and mellow crowd enjoying the free film and cool breezes that blew in off the East River.

The new Pier 1 location seems much bigger than the old Empire State Park venue -- are we right?  Though crowded, there was enough room for the thousands who showed up. Seemed like the sound carried better, too. (It echoed off the buildings across Furman Street and came back at you from the east.) And the trains on the Manhattan Bridge didn't drown out the dialog!

Sponsor Syfy set up a tent offering raffles, giveaways and popcorn.

Next Thursday's film (July 15) is Monsters vs. Aliens presented in  Real D Logo (PG). The screening will kick off with a special outdoor premiere of Syfy’s brand film House of Imagination, featuring on-air talent from Syfy series such as Warehouse 13, Eureka, Stargate Universe, Ghost Hunters, Destination Truth and Sanctuary. DJ: Lupe Loop.

You can see the season's full schedule here.

Many folks biked in; a bike valet was again provided by Transportation Alternatives.
