'Emerging Talent' Coming to Brooklyn's Revamped LIU Paramount Theatre

With Brooklyn's Barclays Center already the nation’s No. 1 venue in terms of of tickets sold and gate revenue, news of another major Downtown Brooklyn performance venue, operated by the same folks, promises to open the gates to a different level of performance.

The legendary Brooklyn Paramount Theatre, once a venue for the first movie talkies and performers like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and Bing Crosby, is being restored and rebranded (by partners LIU, Ratner and Barclays) as LIU Paramount Theatre.

What acts are planned for the LIU Paramount? Not Barbara Streisand or the Rolling Stones, who have appeared at Barclays.

The owners say they will be booking “emerging talent” for more than 120 annual events, including music, comedy, boxing, and private programs for students, according to the Brooklyn Eagle.

The venue will have a flexible capacity of up to 3,500. (Barclays Center holds roughly 18,000.)

While no events are yet scheduled, Ticketmaster has a page for LIU Paramount Theatre ready and waiting, as does StubHub. So stay tuned.

One thing is for certain -- Juniors Restaurant is gonna love this.
