Salad Days in Brooklyn


Good things from the garden. We're just about to make a big batch of Pesto, but we have to get to Sahadi's to buy a bunch of pine nuts first.

Your Basil looks better than mine...
I am weeks from my first batch of pesto.
Lately, instead of pine nuts, I have been using blanched almonds. A bit less fat, a bit cheaper and tastes just as good.

Mint has been growing in abundance in my little patch of garden this year.
We are making lots of iced mint tea.

I just got back from Key Food with a bag of blanched almonds. That was a big revelation to me -- I'll let you know how it turned out, thanks.
