Help save the walruses: The second annual 5k run and family fun run/walk at Wildlife Conservation Society’s New York Aquarium in Coney Island takes place Saturday, October 6.

The 5K starts at 8 a.m., while the family fun (also good for casual walkers) run takes off at 8:45 a.m.

Registration includes free stuff:
* Free all-day access to the New York Aquarium
* Two free rides at Luna Park
* Free t-shirt
* Post-run refreshments and entertainment
* A host of great prizes for fundraisers of all levels, including ear buds, a soft plush walrus, hat, cooler, and even a kiss from one of the aquarium’s resident sea lions

The route of the event will take participants along the Coney Island Boardwalk and is dedicated to saving walruses, their habitat, and other wildlife. The Wildlife Conservation Society works around the world and in the walrus’s Arctic range to help combat threats facing these majestic animals.

Almost 2,000 runners and walkers are registered. For more information, visit wcsrunforthewild.org/nyaquarium. The run is sponsored by Con Edison.
