The Empire Stores are a complex of seven four- and five-story warehouses that were built in 1869 and for many years were used to store coffee, tea and other materials, according to the Brooklyn Eagle. Though striking, the warehouses have been vacant since the 50s and are in disrepair.
According to Crain's, the selected developer will sign a 96-year lease.
