Brooklyn D.A. Drops Charges Against Homeless Man Police Beat the Crap Out Of

Brooklyn district attorney Charles Hynes dropped all criminal charges against the young homeless man whose brutal beating by police inside a Jewish community center in Brooklyn was videotaped by security cameras, the NY Times reports.

Ehud Halevy had been charged with a felony count of assault on police officers, resisting arrest and criminal trespass.

The shocking video of the arrest showed two officers from the 71st Precinct repeatedly punching and striking the young man with a baton. Halevy did not strike the officers at any time.

Elected officials and the Orthodox Jewish community in Crown Heights held a press conference Monday to protest the beating.
