'Bay Ridge Hum' -- Gone at Last?

The annoying low-frequency world-famous Bay Ridge Hum has "plagued sleepers and terrorized children, been the butt of jokes, and even the source of a Cornell University investigation," but according to an article in today's Brooklyn Eagle, the hum has finally stopped.

It started in 2005, waking children up at night and distracting workers. Scientists investigated a number of possible causes -- construction, the water treatment plant, noise-making fish, low-flying UFOs -- but never really figured it out.

Could our three-year nightmare finally be over?

UPDATE: The Bay Ridge Rover has more on this as well.
