Vegetarian Ginger on Montague Street, Brooklyn Heights

The new Vegetarian Ginger restaurant, upstairs on Montague Street (corner of Henry, in Brooklyn Heights where Kim Paris used to be) has been open a couple of weeks now, but business seems middling.

To be fair, the restaurant business in Brooklyn Heights takes a nosedive anyway in August as locals take their late summer jaunts.

We're glad to see that the windows have had their shade treatment removed. That dark glass made it hard to tell if Kim Paris was open or not.

Vegetarian Ginger is continuing the Asian/ vegetarian theme that was happening on the corner when it held a place called The Greens kosher vegetarian. The menu features items like "Mixed Vegetables Soy Protein," "Soy Cutlet Sizzling Platter," "Eggplant and String Beans in Basil Garlic Sauce," and "General Tso's Soy Protein."

While upstairs restaurants come and go, Andy's, on the ground floor, is starting to look like an old, dependable standby.

Had delivery from them on Friday. It was excellent. Thrilled to have them in the hood. I have a suspician though that they are affiliated with Wild Ginger, which is a pan-asian vegan place that is also excellent and seems to be building a small empire in NYC. The menu's are pretty identical. Funnily enough they are opening a Wild Ginger very closeby on Smith and Pacific!

You say "empire" as if it's a bad thing. I love Wild Ginger and miss The Greens terribly, so I'm hoping my lunch orders help keep them in business.

The woman at the cash register insisted, "different owner" from Wild Ginger. WIthout holding the menus side-by-side I can't say for sure, but they're quite similar.

I agree with the anonymous person. It is, indeed, the best restaurant; the prices are cheap and fair. I love going there, too. A few mistakes from the anonymous person..probably he/she was delighted to be writing about this restaurant. Guys, you should really go there. When you go there, you can know that you are gonna be full, but you won't be unhealthy nor fat.
